Some Clay

 I like to call this glaze the waterfall combination.  Made out of Porcelain. - 2011

 A little off?  Jar made out of Porcelain.  A combination of thrown pieces. This was an experiment using many of my test glazes sprayed and layered. - 2011

Another wonky Jar made out of porcelain and sprayed with many of my test glazes.  Reminds me of a martini shaker. - 2011

The bowling ball.  Its a fun piece made out of white stoneware. - 2011

Pitcher made out of white stoneware with layering of a shino and a glaze heavy in iron oxide. I like to leave throwing lines it leaves a lot more variation to the glaze. - 2011

High fired porcelain with a clear test glaze over one of my lithographic transfers using a drawing.  - 2011

Salt fired porcelain.  It was part of my tree series mugs that I had. The circles are a blue ink that I was experimenting with.  This mug is one of my more successful transfers.  - 2011

"Untitled"

I like to refer to this as my guy.  He is made out of high fired white stoneware and is a composite of thrown pieces.  I didn't smooth out the throwing lines but rather left them in to show that this was a hand built piece but the pieces were thrown.  If I wanted to not have that effect I would have just hand built him and then smoothed out the edges into a softer looking guy.  He is holding a slab with a transfer of my print "Now Do You See?".   

Mezzotint....

" All Grown Up"  

This one is done as a reductive mezzotint working more with the process that I am so addicted to.  Using two different types of rockers. This is about my brother him going away and just thinking about us as kids and how close we are. - 2011

"Ada"

This is a drypoint with selective mezzotint.  I was working right on the plate from a model we had.  - 2011

"No Escape"

This is working with the idea of how things keep coming back again.  I had a couple random run ins with something in my past I was trying to run away from and again it just keeps coming back and circulating and there is nothing you can do about it. This is a reductive mezzotint using two different rockers. - 2011

Untitled for now

These three plates are based off of drawings I had done from a model. I was trying to use many different ways to use the model.  For example this print using a reductive mezzotint with two different rockers and also from the previous post the ceramic sculptures I have I used my drawings as a reference and transferred those original drawings on them.  - 2011

Ever heard the saying you wear your heart on your sleeve? Thats me...... and because of that the heart is bleeding.  This was a mezzotint using two different rockers using the reductive technique and using a piece of  plexi to lay down the color. - 2011

Prints! (about time)

"Dont Look"
This is a piece I worked on during the summer.   Most of my work deals with problems or challenges I work through.  This is one of many and is filled with different images that I was dealing with at the time.  This is the first large plate that I have worked with using mezzotint and drypoint.  I worked from dark to light- 2011

This is a brain spill.  I took a day and decided to let everything out on my mind all at once and this came out as an explosion of different images. This is a combined drypoint and mezzotint - 2011

This is dealing with certain human emotions and behaviors being taken over by another emotion that  not so  desirable.
An example would be trust being taken over by jealousy.  A mezzotint and drypoint-2011

"Now Do You See?"
One of my first mezzotints.  I had done something that resulted in someone very important in my life walking away.  It was a moment where I had to really look at myself and see what I was really doing,  Unfortunately it shows that moments like that are the only thing to force us to change.  Drypoint and mezzotint- 2011

"Unemployed"
I was experimenting with mezzotint and aquatint.  This was the last time I used acid. I had aquatinted the entire plate but and scraped away everything but the garbage can. I went back in and added mezzotint where I wanted it and drypoint.  It was interesting how they worked together.  This is sorta a funny print.  In la crosse we have a ton of squirrels and they eat our garbage popping out of garbage cans.  I decided that it would be an interesting thought if all the garbage cans in the city were padlocked what the squirrels would do.  - 2011

"Waiting"
This was me counting the days of someone not being around.  Leave that one at that.  - 2010

"Release"
This was my first print after my baby series! This was  when I realized how much I could use print to work through things and expose human experiences.  In this case I guess to put it 'lightly' betrayal and how we sit here and think about all of this as time passes.  These odd line guys that I have in the print is continued through most of my prints.  They are these things that I associate and connect with as being bad not evil but in that way sorta.  They are there and hang there and just represent that crap that we have around. - 2009 

Some New Stuff

My ladies....

These were based on figure drawings I had done.  I then broke the drawings down into pieces and constructed them out of clay using all thrown pieces.  I transferred the drawings on their backs like a tattoo.
