My First Series

This print was done using aquatint and line etch. Later I went back in with watercolor to bring in a different meaning to the print. This is one of the prints from my just and unjust series which are still untitled. The series reflect what myself or others close to me have been going through because of others not accepting their differences. In this particular print I have flipped what is the taboo of our society making the heterosexual couple the taboo and the homosexual couple the ideal couple of our society. Trying to make people feel what others like those close to me may feel.

The second print in my unjust series was mainly using a aquatint and some dry point. I went back in and used watercolor to bring a focus to the figure. This is something that I have been dealing with firsthand. A classroom with a professor of different ethnicity and differences. Many have had this in their classrooms however I have seen the disrespect that has been shown towards these professors and feel that it is not right.

  1. love the content you are exploring in these prints! its great that you are using your prints as a way of interrogating social practices... a way of enforcing social justice. this is difficult to do. I applaud you! Can't wait to see more of your work this semester.
